Brooklyn Drum Company
sold out
vintage 1930s paper thin Alejian (by Zildjian) 14" hi-hat cymbals, 626g top over 656g bottom
$250.00
Wispy and trashy, these paper thin hats were made by Zildjian. Judging by the hammering on the bottom cymbal, I would wager as early as the 1930s.
Cymbals have a few issues but remain playable. Top has 1 bent spot on the edge but otherwise in great shape. Bottom cymbal has a more severe bend on one spot. Looks creased but under a magnifying glass is not cracked. Center hole on the bottom cymbal has 2 spider cracks.
Moving pictures are worth a thousand words so check out the video.
Recordings are made with 5A sticks in a treated room with a pair of Coles 4038s (spaced pair), Beta52, and KSM 137 in order to represent the drums and cymbals as naturally as possible.
